Jervis Bay

You know those moments where you go..

"Oh man we should really do this.. we should really go somewhere it'll be so much fun"

and everyone gets really pumped up, but it doesn't really go anywhere. Talks about Jervis Bay were heading this way, but something in me clicked and was like WHY DON'T WE?! First thing I did was find accommodation and I thought why not check out Airbnb since it's one of the most popular ways for tourists nowadays. So I checked out this house, which had awesome reviews, great location and really great amenities. We did this two days before we were going to leave, the next day our request to book it got approved and we were hauled our butts in the car and drove towards our destination.

The drive up was memorable nonetheless, our hearts were pumping from our prospective spontaneous adventure ahead of us, the deafening DOOF DOOF of roadtrip playlists and near death experiences on windy roads at Kangaroo Valley (which we got on video).

Our little home away from home for a few days
Communication 5/5 - very quick to reply
Cleanliness 5/5
Affordability 4/5 - it was slightly more expensive than I first thought, but the amenities made up for it
Amenities 5/5 - Highlights: outdoor kitchen/patio, outdoor shower, various kitchen utensils, surfboards

The owner who we didn't get to meet was super accommodating, she called to check if we got there alright and told us there were surfboards that we were free to use, which was a SUPER BONUS..since you wouldn't ever have these amenities at a normal hotel without having to fork out a hefty tip. Another good thing about this location are your neighbours out and about early in the A.M...

What a 6am morning walk looks like outside the Bungalow

Made a new best friend
Few metres away from the Bungalow
Our Jervis Trip consisted of  FOUR beaches

MERMAID POOL

I am actually unsure of the name of this beach, but we were told it had Mermaid Pools so that should be the name bestowed to it instead of referencing it as "the beach outside the house". I gotta admit it looked like an easier trek than what we anticipated. The walk there was through that creek above, it has really bad algae and moss so when you stepped in it, the crud would squish in between your toes and ooze out. That would probably be the best description I could give, but it would probably be an understatement. In saying so, the walk was definitely worth it. Felt like your own private beach with white sand and wild tussling waves. The most refreshing swim I've had in a while. It would be a really good place to have a surf, the waves were amazing!

CHINAMAN'S BEACH

Don't ask why it's called that because I literally have no clue. This was the first beach that we headed to on our official adventure. We had a bit of trouble finding it, but it was quite a nice beach. Just a heads up though, there's no toilets/showers/taps or anything there so just be weary of that. We got our tan and swim on, which in time got greeted by a few more friends.

Spotted a few dolphins and didn't even need to pay for a tour boat; asian level is strong

Panorama view of Chinamans Beach

After that tiring swim we decided to try the local restaurants, surprisingly no fish and chips, but hearty burgers and vegetarian lasagnes. It hit the spot after a few hours of swimming. The burgers were good and the hot chips hit the spot.

The burgers cost about $17.

COLLINGWOOD BEACH

Only a short drive from Chinamans Beach, this was the beach that was best for kite surfing and all that adreanline junkie water sports. There's a certain part of the beach that has sand like quicksand, which I quickly discovered as a friend strongly misguided me to walk in it. Very picturesque views I must say, the blend of blue hues were absolute perfection.

No filter needed.

SHOALHAVEN BEACH

The last beach on our spontaneous adventure. We visited this beach when it was insanely high tide, to the point that it literally washed me up against the sand wall. This 7 mile beach was as if we were stranded on a desert island trying to look for other life forms, it was extremely desolated and foggy. Nothing kept us going but our manly chants of encouragement and knowing there was hope for us all. A bit melodramatic, but that's what we felt walking along that beach.

As my first ever road trip, it was the best experience going on a three day retreat with your friends and getting to know each other in a different environment. Going home with lots of memories and game for other spontaneous trips that lie ahead of me!

It's gonna be a good year guys, I CAN FEEL IT!
